Article reads: Otsego man dies after car hits tree. By Kim Hummel Cooperstown Bureau. East Springfield - An East Springfield man died Friday morning at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown from injuries he received in a one-car accident Thursday night in the town of Springfield. Randie A. Tracy, 20, of Briar Hill Road near the hamlet of East Springfield, was driving south on county route 31 at about 9:30 pm when his car went off the right side of the road and traveled 168 feet before reentering the road going sideways, crossing to the left side and hitting a tree on the passenger side of the car. The car spun partly around the tree and came to a stop nearby, according to Deputy Ricky Yerdon of the Otsego County Sheriff's Department. When the car re-entered the roadway and crossed to the other side, it left skid marks measuring 102 feet and 76 feet. Tracy was admitted to Bassett Hospital in critical condition with head and chest injuries. He died at 6:50 am Friday, according to a nursing supervisor at the hospital. A June 1988 graduate of Cherry Valley-Springfield Central School, Tracy had worked as a carpenter up until last summer, when he worked for his father on the family dairy farm, Golden Brook. Tracy was born Dec. 31, 1968, in Norwich, the son of Robert and Sandra Tracy. Surviving are his mother and father, two brothers, Martin and Jason, and paternal grandparents, Mr and Mrs Roger Tracy, of Oxford. Services will be held 1 pm Monday Feb 27, at the United Methodist Church, Cherry Valley, with Rev. Paul Freeman, pastor, officiating.

I spent quite a bit of time hanging out with Randie, Marty's brother . . . his nickname was Pork Chop . . . Sue and Marty were together and we used to hang out at Marty's . . . I don't remember the house but remember feeling completely at home every time we were there . . . when I fell off the cliff I was wearing their younger brother Jason's sneakers:  they were too small for my feet and it was painful to wear them but I liked the way they looked on my feet . . . this makes me think of how torturous foot binding must be . . . Randie was a few years younger and I really liked him, not from a relationship perspective but as a person . . . we would play around planning a future wedding for ourselves, make believe, which made it fun -- safe . . . I wrote this letter a few weeks before my accident . . . I don't think I ever saw him again after my injury . . .

Letter reads: May 18 Ran, Tonight is almost here, I just can't wait, I keep renewing my buzz by drinking a beer, but I only have one beer left, and you won't be here for another 2 and a half hours! I'm gonna die. When Randy calls we're gonna freak, cause we don't know what to say. Sue and I were doing aerobics when we got home, you should have been here, it was amusing. I made a negative for you today, hope you like it. I felt like being insane.
Continued -- You never wrote me my letter, and you promised! I'm not gonna write anymore unless you write to me. Well I'm getting tired, I think I'm gonna sleep for a while. Love ya, Conni Sue + Marty me + you

I took an Industrial Graphics class at the time where created this negative . . .

a scanned graphic saying Ran, I love you dearly, and am glad we're married! Love, Mrs. Constance Tracy
